Previously, Stun and Assert had ventured off into the jungle surrounding Apollyon's lands searching for trouble. They were followed quietly by Unn, who watched them find a bear cub. Stun was hurt first, taking a good strike to the chest from the young bear who then went to strike him again and was intercepted by Assert, leaving both of the boys having the wind knocked out of them before Unn jumped in to stand over them and deter the bear. Then the cub's mother showed up. Kyte had been stalking a nearby herd of elk when he heard the yelps, whines and growls of the mother bear. This is the last post made on Kyte. This thread is the continuation roleplay to these events. (00:23:59) Kyte hadn't spent a night at home the past couple weeks, preparing yet again as Disdain was no doubt doing. At least, he hoped.. he wasn't sure what Dis was doing. He hadn't exchanged words with Disdain much since promoting him to be Viscount. Singular red ruby was locked idly on the herd in front of him, waiting for his opening on one of the smaller calves. He'd already picked off one last week, now he was back for the second- but it had taken so long to find them again. The night was quiet, making it even harder for the massive wolf to get as close as he needed to be- but convenient in the way that his son's yelping rang clear. The herd was startled and soon hooves began beating against the ground and he couldn't hear anything. He bolted back toward the jungle and toward the sound, trying his hardest to hear anything over the sound of hooves and his own paws hitting the ground hard. With haste, he ran back toward home until finally the elk were long gone. He could see the glow of their land breaking through the trees, as his heart beat so hard it threatened to rattle the cage it was held in. He slowed and eventually stopped to catch his breath and listen again now that the air were silent, catching the sound of a bear and Unn shrieking, holy shit! A bear, his sons, Unn?! He tracked then down, following the sounds of the bear's growling until he found the clearing. Hind claws dug into the earth as forelimbs pushed against the ground and then the beast leapt up, a missile of solid muscle under a black coat being launched directly at the mother bear antagonizing Unn. Ears pinned against his skull, maw aimed to grace down her side with sharp teeth to get her attention. Paws met the ground again soon, not able to launch his heavy mass far but the momentum helped to get him on his feet and running again. He would dash a couple feet away, turn around and meet the bear with the most pissed off look a father could fucking have. Snarl ripped through the air as it bellowed from him, ringing deep at the mother in a dare. Once he'd got her attention, he'd side hop further away from Unn and dash ten more feet toward her baby. The cub would attempt to move back, and Kyte would follow it in a sort of predator's waltz. Momma finally charged at him and so Kyte turned around, darting back into the bushes and successfully luring her away from the group. ---- The deep growling of the bear would follow the ghoul for what seemed like an eternity, the sound of the ursine's voice remaining strong over the rustling of the jungle foliage the Lord raced through. The colossal wolf was growing tired, fatigue haunting his muscular limbs as lungs gasped every breath; heart desperately beat as if it were a war drum, trying it's hardest to ignite life into his quivering muscles. He had noticed his age creeping up on him every day that he wake, having a harder time lifting up his hulking mass without pain. It wasn't unbearable yet, but he knew the inevitable would one day come. He didn't know anything beyond the pain after slumber, but arthritis had been setting in slowly over the past year. Usually, once he got up and kept active the pain had for the most part receded, or at least- he'd been able to keep himself distracted enough not to let it hinder his duties as a father, respected leader, and mate. Running for short periods during hunts had become a daily event in his life now that growing children were reliant on him and new life was swelling in Azzelia's stomach. Those were short periods... this long bear chase had him well run out of stamina awhile ago.
Black towers fell back onto his regal crown to the sound of one very close roar, the Lord was losing ground. He willed himself to move faster, short black hide rippling along the sinewed shape of his back. Thoughts of his children raced through his mind- would they be alright? Everything had happened so quick back there, but he knew he'd seen Ace's alabaster tones painted red with blood. There were few things that struck fear into his heart, truth be told. Even the bear at his flank didn't terrify him like the thought that one of his children might suffer the same fate Lockjaw had. Lockjaw had been so young, and Assert and Stun were even younger. He had to ensure that they made it home, that they were taken care of and that their stories didn't end here. His sides were heaving with his breath, setting his thoughts of home aside as he focused on keeping his breathing under control while pushing his endurance. His vision was blurring under the stress his body were put in.
He had hoped the mother bear would have given up long ago, but he had underestimated the anger he'd summoned from her when he'd threatened her cub right in front of her. Her determination was winning. Countless times, the dark wolf would attempt to change course- paws moving so fast over the decayed ground of the jungle as he'd switch lanes and dodge through bushes that they left a trail in the air behind him. He had hoped that the night would cloak him, but he made too much noise due to his size to successfully pull off a stealthy get away. Nothing worked, and he'd finally run out of steam. He ran until his legs gave out underneath him, sending him crashing into terra hard enough that he skid a few feet and was stopped only by the base of a tree. His skull lifted, massive for a wolf even of his size, as that ruby locked on the bear that so adamantly followed him. Snarl immediately ripped from his chest, immense in it's power as if the Lord had just conjured a demon within himself in one last attempt to deter her. No matter how big that head of his was, it became dwarfed under the heavy bear claws that came crashing down upon it. Was this it? Was this his fate? For the first time, Kyte felt death breathing down his neck in the form of this bear. An interesting fate, as it was Kyte breathing down the neck of a bear that founded the Empire.
The bear was ruthless, thick talons of her paws being driven across the left side of Lord's neck and then raked up the side of his face- catching that one glowing ruby in the night and putting out it's light. Visioned turned white, but still the fallen Lord would attempt to whip his head and encase his jowls around the paw of his assailant. He felt his teeth connect with her flesh and drove those thick knives into it as far as they'd go, growling fierce as he would attempt to thrash. His neck was tattered on one side, preventing the use of his muscles as well as what could have been. It wasn't long before another blow was felt to the other side of his head, this one hitting him with not only enough force to cause him to lose his grip and move the 147 lb wolf a couple feet away from her- but enough to send him into a state of delirium. Fading in and out of consciousness, the blind wolf reverted to visions of Aiena huddled close to him the night their Kingdom had been under siege.
"Shhh." He hushed his crying sister, five month old children huddled close together in a blend of black and grays. They watched in silence as their family defended the Kingdom. Silver and ruby eyes made into perfect spheres as wolves ripped each other apart. At first, the Black Raven Pack seemed sure to win- but one by one, they fell until only their mother were left. His father told him to stay hidden with Aiena and keep her quiet, and he wanted to listen! However, he couldn't let his mother take on an army single handed. The young wolf stood up, racing into their war with a roaring scream.
Behemoth screamed again now as he mustered enough strength to rise to a stand, ears trying hard to listen for the bear through their ringing. He could hear her breathing, he could hear her heavy weight coming toward him. He blindly moved away from her, stiffly beginning to turn his body around to face her when the power of another strike ripped into his side that faced her. He felt those claws puncture well into his flesh and dive into his rib cage, bones being pulled away with the weight of her paw as it would drag downward toward his stomach and then leave his body once again. Abyssal Lord fell for a second time, legs giving out under the intensity of the hit as he lay there in the growing pool of his own blood. The scent of it thick enough now to mask even the bear that towered over him. He lay there in silent agony, still and waiting for her to bring it all to an end- but it never came. Thoughts were drifting back to the beautiful face of his mate just a few nights prior as they played like children down by the river. They had been so free in no one else but each other's company, it had been so refreshing. Had he known how short his time was going to be with her, he would have made more of their evenings spent just like that. He inhaled slowly, gasping now as his mind raced. He was thankful for having the memory at all to cling on to in his final hour.

(Man I am sobbing LOL, this may not be perfect. I am currently on my mobile device.)
Restlessness? Nervousness? What was it that surrounded the dark-hued body that was found in the courtyard of their molten pack land. Warmth that surrounded the courtyard made the massive female wolf's frail mindset grow even worse, patience not being an option in this state. Paws hit the ground with no signs of attempting to mask the unsteady movements on the hard ground, pacing right now was Attack's only option to do while thinking, torn. She was to either leave the pups here with the others and go out looking for her missing mate, even if his absence had not been too long, but something was wrong. One, two of her pups were passed out with severe sounds to their bodies. Finally, rash thinking and the fear of Kyte not returnkng made the Matriarch snap, gears turning on full blast. Even if he did go on a simple hunt on his own for the pack, that was normal. Attack had to find the Lord, now. If only to ease her current mindset.
Muscles moved under he coarse fur, limbs pushing the mass of a female forward with no signs of stopping. Skull was lowered towards the ground, nostrils flaring with every breath that sucked into the sensitive area, scents dragging her towards where the male could possibly be. Paws skidded to an abrupt halt, nose taking in scents of who all possibly was at the spot where old blood splattered against the ground from the initial fight that started with the pups, at least it seemed that Unn was there to help, but so was Kyte. Now where the hell was he? Anxiety started to sink in the dominant female's frame and mind, muscles staying tensed up and breath becoming even more rapid after the trek to where she was now. This wasn't happening.. Why wouldn't the lord return with the pups to check on them, even after running the bear away. Attack was on the move once again, stride becoming progressively more erratic. Ears raised high upon the wide skull, adorning the Hugh rank female in a regal crown in her attempt to search him down. Scent was growing stronger the closer she got to him, yet the sudden scream of the beloved mate was still further in the distance. That was a horrible sign to hear, causing an enraged yet scared state to awaken within the beast finally. Muscles strained to bring the weight of the massive wolf forward, attempting to sprint faster than what would normally happen. The trek seemed to go on forever, mind on full blast, thoughts all over the place and jumbled together.
Finally silver eyes seen the scenery change in front of Attack despite still being in the forest, everything was playing out in slow motion once the mauled frame of her mate and Lord that was followed without hesitation currently laid limp on the ground. Life quickly starting to leave the body, and the Matriarch didnt hesitate to move closer to the loved male. "Kyte, are you still there?" Words flowed through the muzzle, tone still strong yet soft, making sure the male didn't freak out any further if there was hope he was still able to hear her. Legs stood still next to the body, skull lowered enough just to stop herself from touching him. Kyte was blind, completely gone now and she could never meet his gaze once again. Mind started to break down as seconds clicked on, body trembling with the severe emotions taking toll on the fucked up leader already. Was she going to snap or hold it all in again. Did she end his life for him or just let him suffer and attempt to speak, this was all too much. The only male she cared for was slipping away and all she could do was attempt to be strong, not weak despite the current situation. Did he care if he heard her break down or would he wasn't to see the normal Attack.
(I wish this could be so much better, but LOL)

(Shh, you are fine. It is fine. <3)
The air stung what was left of the muscles around his exposed rib cage as they moved around his gasping lungs. The ringing in his ears and his delirious mind made it difficult for him to pay attention to the bear's movements. Had it struck him? Was he gone? He knew it were coming. How long had it been? The red of his eye now spread over the side of his face in blood as jowls parted and chin tucked downward, hackles still raised over his form as memories swept over him. Thoughts drifted from the face of his mate to those of their beloved children.
It seemed like just yesterday he were in the courtyard, babbling on about fight training to small minds with short attention spans. All of them had shown heart and interest, despite their inability to fully comprehend what he had been trying to explain to them. They trained him that if he wanted to get through to them, he couldn't do so with fancy words and well thought out processes. The children were captivated by action and demonstration. He remembered how proud he had been of the little howls they'd given off, no matter how much they seemed to sulk afterward. They held so much promise in their tiny bodies and they didn't even realize it. He remembered thinking then of the magnificent Kings and Queens they would grow into and how much he anticipated the day he watched them become this. He still would. Somehow he knew, that even though this night would surely be his last- he would still be with them, and he would watch over them as they grew. Their familial bonds would tie their Kingdoms together and keep them strong and free of worry, of threat- and the Lord wouldn't miss his dreams unfold, not even in death.
Bloodied ear, torn a part during the bear's first blow, would start to turn before agony stopped it, it was trying to distinguish the sound of footsteps through the ringing and the sound of his own fading breath and heartbeat. He inhaled sharp as face twitched in a sort of muscle memory, attempting to turn the eye freshly taken from him toward the direction of the sound. Finally, the voice of his mate softened the ringing, it's power holding true over the sound of the white noise. Her presence wrapped around him like a security blanket in this moment, torn neck moving toward her even through the pain. "Atta," deep voice had always held a raspier tone, but even this were a bit rough compared to it's norm. He didn't have to be able to see her face in order to sense the anxiousness within her. He knew how fragile the tethers were that held her mind in order, but he held faith in her now just as he always had. "I am still here." Smirk spread across those black lips as soon as words left him, "It's going to be alright, Atta. Stay strong. Unn is with Stun and Assert, they found a bear... they are hurt. You must keep on them no matter what, to keep training them. Their ignorant fearlessness stems from their brave hearts, they can not have it squandered by the guilt I am sure they will feel. The same guilt I felt when my father died protecting me. They must not ever forget who they are, they have purpose. They are to remain in the Original Kingdom and lead the Empire when they are ready. Do not let them forget.." His speech was stressed, lips lifting around his teeth during it enough to reveal the paleness of his gums. Massive head would attempt to nudge toward his mate, to comfort her just as much as it were meant to comfort himself.
"Apollyon must remain under your reign until then, Attack. Afterall, it is you that I have to thank for never giving up on this ambition of mine. It is you that I have to thank for turning my Abyss into glory. I see the way you often doubt yourself, the way you look to me when you question your own behaviour. You have more strength than you give yourself credit for. Not only in your body, but in your mind. You have changed so much since the day you accepted the duties of Matriarch, you have shown yourself beyond capable of protecting them. Of raising them. I see you in every one of our children, even those birthed by Spirit. I see your strong-willed heart, as well as both of our stubbornness, in all of them. They are growing perfect in your mold as they learn from you. You do not need to look to me for guidance, Attack- but I will still be there in moments where you feel like you do. Even in death, I will not leave you- for I am an Apollyon. I will live on in the rest of the pack, you must not let my flesh be claimed by the elements. Feed on my flesh, alongside them, and I will remain in Apollyon forever. My blood will course through every outpost that thrives in our Empire. I will never die." The pausing between words in those last few seconds grew lengthier the more he focused on getting them out. He focused now on his breathing, willing himself to keep it up no matter how fatigued he were growing. He would not give up yet, not until he heard confidence in her words. Heart beat in slow knocks, reminding him of his own mortality despite the words that left him. Yet still, he knew, he would live on.

Scenery around the pair had all but been forgotten, vision blurring into a tunnel that seemed to be fully set on her beloved mate. Was this really how it was going to end? It seemed like it was only a few seasons ago when he was boasting about killing a bear, now the tables had turned. It just didn't settle right in the Matriarch's mind. This had to be one of her delusional moments that showed as of lately, but his movements towards her made it all too clear that this was real. Kyte was really passing away right in front of her eyes. Every muscle seemed to cause the body to shake even further, thoughts and the ones protected emotions starting to break through. The Abyssal Lord had been the only male that had got through to her dense mind and the hatred to males, the first she had ever cared for, even loved.
Ears that once crowned the skull had laid flat as soft touches to the male was offered once the weak body tried to do it himself, word began to flow into the air around them and that really kicked her into reality, even the sound of how the voice began to struggle to keep going almost too much to handle. Paws lightly touched the cool ground that was nothing like their pack lands as the massive female positioned herself perfectly beside Kyte, limbs slowly giving out beneath the broad body to rest against the back of him, muzzle laying upon the other's, matching scars to lay claim as mates practically forming into one by how they touched. Attack was allowing him to talk still, but not as much as he would before. No, he didn't need that or her breaking down on him in a time like this. Though she would speak before his time was up, but he would never die in her mind.
"Shh.. Don't strain too much, love." Words were still on the verge of showing how much the mind was truly breaking, but this was the true her. "I will take control of the pack and pick up your dream, you will hear about how apollyon carried on in the future by my own tongue.. I will build empires just for you. Our children will become the finest kings and queens that you can imagine, even if it takes my body as well." Even the physically perfect female seemed to strain with speaking without the sign of being so upset, yet confidence laced into the words that would make anyone smile. Attack was going to step up and take on this role, she had to lead the others, even the pups to be the best that they could. Yet a thought of future revenge was clearly swimming in those rapid thoughts, to get that bear and take the life from it as well. A slight whimper dared to escape the closed muzzle, silver eyes that didn't hold he normal sparkle to them had shut, taking in the moment as kyte would. No sight.
Why had the days gone by like they did? There was plenty of times that attack had a chance to further their bond and relationship but the thought of how her father acted brought this female back into a shell every time, even if there was nothing in common with the two. Kyte had even brought out the locked away playful side that only youngsters had, they had just been playing days prior to this, so why did it end now? In her mind there was hope to think that he would remember the moments that they shared even through death.
"Just let go.. Don't suffer to keep speaking to me, and don't tell me goodbye as this will not be the last time we meet. I will search for you again in the next life." A soft yet hurt smile pulled at the dark-hued lips, pain still present as if she got attacked too, but this wasn't physical pain. Hope swam through her words, hope that what she was saying happened to be true. That one day they truly would reunite beyond their living days, they were a bonded a pair. "Just remember that I do love you Kyte." Love was never spoken between the two from what the Matriarch could remember, but this was a perfect time to let it slip from the locked up mind, showing her true feelings towards him. Why she had always gotten so protective or jealous over him. Even saying the male's true name that he had liked her enough to present to her rolled off the tongue like it had been so natural to say, it was one thing that she could call him in private that wasn't something so formal. This was the end for him, but not the end of 'them' as a pair. Even to Attack's last breath, she was the original Lord's mate. She had become something in her life, in someone else's life, unlike what was originally planned.
(Short, quick, to the point late night post LOL)

The warmth of his mate hugging his backside was becoming more and more noticeable as his blood continued to spill around the two, taking with it the natural warmth the wolf was able to put off for himself. The side of his face was mutilated by the bear, stinging with an incredible pain that matched the one of his broken and exposed rib cage, but still he pressed his scarred snout against her own in one last nuzzle.
Her words were getting quieter, but they calmed him and engulfed him in a feeling of pride and glory due to the strength his mate were showing. "I love you." He repeated her words, he was having trouble piecing thoughts together, so he simply.. relaxed. Everything was going to be okay, and he were so thankful to be close to her as his chest became still. Lungs were no longer able to pull in air, his heartbeat slowly came to a stop. Though his sight had been stolen from him, for a moment he thought he were able to see the two of them entangled on the jungle floor.
He passed away with warm thoughts of the few nights that they had been able to spend together. They had been ignorant to the short time they would really have together when they'd first met, but during that short time the two had achieved such greatness. There was no greater honor than to die next to the one he loved with confidence in all that he'd left behind.
(bawling like a baby.. sorry it's short... ;c)

Short amount of time had passed by in such a slow manner that minutes felt like hours. Sounds of anything around the pair could not be heard by the pair, Attack's ears starting to him before straight ringing formed within them, surely matching what the fading male was hearing. Emotions were on the breaking point, body quivering and eyes forced shut by tensed muscles. Whimpers didn't dare to release from the female, at least not at the current moment. Movements being little to nothing, barely even returning the nuzzle of effection in hopes not to cause more irritation to the fatal wounds. Blood that spilled from the Lord also soaked the dark fur, warmth and wetness flowing over parts of the body against the ground. This was the end. Kyte was gone, there was no more straining to speak or move. The only words that danced in that mind was the reply that she was hoping for. There it was, the snap Attack had been waiting for, something broke inside of that skull.
Breathing vanished, there was nothing more moving on the previous suffering frame. Everything was still for once, even the jungle seemed to pause with the loss of a life. Yet, it still felt as if Kyte was still there speaking to her, words repeating themselves and bouncing around in the skull. Heartbeat started to race even further than before, chest growing tight as everything started to take toll on the wolf at once. Facial expression and body didn't hold any of the previous confidence that was shown to the fading life, now she was alone. No one could see her break down and knock down any walls that his any emotions. Body movements became more erratic, legs pulling the wide frame to her feet, nose nuzzling against the body as if she was still a pup, testing the male for any more signs of life or if it was all turning out to be a dream. Then it all went still once again, nostrils flaring against the black fur to take in the scent of her mate.
Why was she trying to make him wake up? It was useless, these rash actions did nothing but make the situation worse on her. She needed to be strong.
Paws felt like anchors connected to the ground, limbs not working to what her mind was telling them to do. No, they kept her placed in one spot, eyes not being able to stare off from the damage that Kyte had taken on. Within a split second her neck craned back to throw her muzzle to the sky, jaws parted just enough to release all of the built up breath. The song was full of emotion, mourning the death of the one she loved and making it public of his passing. The sound that carried through the distance was new, howls rarely ever escaping the beast unless necessary, and this time it was no exception. This time it was louder and expressing more emotion. Something horrid had happened and now most of the pack would know.
Attack was going to have a lot on her shoulders, taking the body back to theor lands, speaking to the members more closely than before, and taking control of the pack. This is what some of her goals was and many more will become present with time. She was going to make Kyte proud and she was going to be the one to tell him about it when her time came to an end.
